Montpellier 2 University for Science and Technology in Languedoc (UM2) is an internationally recognized centre of excellence in the fields of the sciences of matter, engineering sciences, earth sciences, hydrology and biology. UM2 has 10 research departments: Mathematical sciences, Earth, water and space sciences, Chemistry, Electronics, Electro-technology, Automation, Computer science, Structures and matter Physics, Mechanical and Civil engineering, Biology-Health, Biology-Evolution-Environment, Agri-ressources, Biological processes, Management sciences.

UM2 delivers about sixty vocational & technological curricula and degrees, and seventy curricula and degrees in pure and applied sciences. UM2 has developed a digital working environment both for continuing and initial training. This has become a common place for every students.

Recently, UM2 has become involved in ODL though three national projects:

• BPCS "virtual campus" in structural biology, physics and chemistry;
• Agapes: on line curriculum on nutrition, health & food technology (together with the Pôle Universitaire Européen de Montpellier et du Languedoc-Roussillon);
• ENVAN, "virtual campus" in environmental technologies with the University of Rennes.
